How Does It Work?
A ‘breeze’ to mount, the GustGuard is designed to block annoying air movement inside a full-face helmet while at speed. Air gusts and drafts while riding a motorcycle come from a variety of sources. Even the best windscreens result in a relatively high pressure area at the front and a low pressure space behind. This low pressure behind the windscreen causes air to be pulled in around the screen and contributes to turbulence and air deflection up inside your helmet. Even with a lower screen, the wind hitting your chest is deflected up, down and to each side, similarly resulting in air deflection up inside your helmet. Made of durable nylon-backed neoprene, the GustGuard significantly reduces air from these sources moving past your chin and blowing across your eyes. Hence, a longer ride with less eye strain and fatigue, that is quieter and more enjoyable.
Breath guards are not the solution, and can actually exacerbate the deflection of air into the eyes. Reduction of air flow enhances ability to hear sounds through communication speakers; also helps in colder weather to help prevent the chill of cold air circulating inside your helmet. Modern full-face helmets typically have generous padding along the jaw line and around the base of the skull. The GustGuard is all that’s needed to fill that last gap in front, without interfering with fit or comfort. Far less bulky and less expensive than other products designed to achieve the same result, and does not contribute to faceshield fogging. Nothing will block 100% of air getting inside your helmet (or else your head would sweat, your faceshield fog and you’d eventually pass out !). The GustGuard has been tested effective up to legal freeway speeds.
